Grammatical Rules- Present simple

·         Form:
To conjugate the present simple to use the inifinitive subject "I", "you", "we" and "they" and for another "I" "she" and "it", we add a "-s" to end of the verb.
·         Structure:
Ø  Affirmative Sentences:
Examples:
o   I talk
o   He eats
o   They learn
Ø  Negative Sentences:
Examples:
o   I do not [don't] talk.
o   He does not [doesn't] eat.
o   They do not [don't] learn.
Ø  Interrogative Sentences:
Examples:
o   Do you talk?
o   Does he eat?
o   Do they learn?
·         Uses:
1.      The present simple is used to talk about things that happen regularly. In contrast to Spanish, do not use the present simple to talk about something that is happening at the moment in which we speak.
Examples:
o   I always talk to my mother on Sunday.
o   He never eats vegetables.

2.      Used to speak in generalities or scientific facts.
Examples:
o   He does not [doesn't] eat vegetables.
o   She works in a hospital.
o   Elephants live in Africa.
o   Bogata is in Columbia.
o   Adults do not [don't] know everything.

3.      Used for events scheduled in the near future.
Examples:
o   The train leaves at 10:00.
o   The party is tonight
o   Does the festival start tomorrow?
o   The plane does not [doesn't] arrive today.

4.      Used for instructions (the imperative).
Examples:
o   Open the window.
o   Eat the vegetables.
o   Don't cry.
o   Do your homework.
o   Call your mother.
